There is a real problem at present with military veterans suffering from social isolation, many of whom have served long military careers in some of the most challenging environments and in turn have witnessed some of the most distressing events during their time in the forces. It is no secret that there is a lack of support both in the forces and also when personnel leave the services.
Sporting Force's Warrior Programme works to tackle issues of social isolation, poor mental and physical health. Funded by Veteran's Foundation and the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund the project will work with partners sucha as: Durham Cricket Foundation, Sunderland AFC, Newcastle Falcons and many more sports veneues across the North East.
Thanks to Veterans' Foundation Sporting Force and Durham Cricket Foundation are able to work together to tackle these issues and improve the health and wellbeing of our armed forces community. It is vitally important that we do what we can to tackle social isolation among veterans and also their families. We have provided a rnage of activites, fun days and outdoor adventures.through out 2021. October family camp at the TCR Hub Barnard Castle, 60 veterans and there family memebers took part in a weekend of canoeing, archery, high ropes and much more.
